This project was developed as part of the PrEP STAT Nudgeathon at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, a collaborative design sprint tackling barriers to HIV prevention among overseas-born men in Australia, without access to Medicare.
The final outcome, Peace of Mind, is a discreet and empowering self-care pack designed to normalise and encourage the use of PrEP. The tote bag contains a free one month supply of PrEP as well as body wipes, postcards featuring testimonials from PrEP users, and a business card with a QR code linking to multilingual resources and a “pay it forward” donation platform.
During the Nudgeathon, the ideation process was fast-paced and highly collaborative. To generate a wide range of concepts, our team implemented a Crazy Eights exercise, where each member sketched eight ideas in eight minutes. This activity encouraged quick thinking and allowed every voice in the group to contribute diverse perspectives drawn from our varied disciplines and lived experiences. We then shared and discussed these ideas as a team, identifying common themes and pain points around stigma, privacy, and accessibility.
Our concept won first place, recognised for its novel approach of framing the PrEP Pack as an act of self-care rather than a confronting medical aid, and for our strong focus on accessibility through multilingual design.
The visual identity combines bold typography with simple iconography to convey care, inclusivity, and action. By centring cultural sensitivity and user experience, the pack aims to spark conversations and build a safer, more supportive community.
